International Women’s Day
Happy International Women’s day! As a brand, we try to work towards equality year-round, which is why we believe Women’s Day should be celebrated every day. Anyway, we digress— it’s still amazingly powerful to celebrate women and their badassery with the rest of the world.
We believe in authentically infusing this in every aspect of our brand. From our factories to HQ to celebrating the ladies of the amazing community around us. We want to take this time to proudly highlight the programs we have at HQ and within our factories to make sure our women feel supported and empowered in the workplace.
HQ Monthly Women’s Group
The Monthly Women’s group at HQ is something everyone looks forward to. Getting to come together as a team, in a safe space to collaborate on ideas, share stories, and grow together is such a privilege. The goal of the group is to discuss and collaborate on women’s issues and experiences in the workplace. There are three main pillars of the group: mentorship, growth, and community. These pillars help inspire and inform the topics that we cover in our meetings. Anyone and everyone is welcome—men too, in fact, they are encouraged to come. We try to cover things that are both personal and professional, as well as topics that help explain stereotypes. We’ve covered everything from the sorry reflex to fatphobia, to intersectionality. We also try and supply the Women’s Group attendees with beneficial tools to lead an empowered, and confident life like personal finance or goal-setting.
MAS Women Go Beyond
MAS is our production factory located in Sri Lanka. Although it is approximately 9,278 miles from HQ, we want each part of our company to experience the same love, support, and empowerment. MAS has it’s very own platform to make a difference in the lives of our female employees, it’s called Women Go Beyond. Over 70% of MAS’s team is female, so this program is especially important. It was founded on the four pillars of success: Career Advancement, Work-Life Balance, Skills Development, and Rewarding Excellence. This program has raised the standards of the apparel industry in Sri Lanka and focused on promoting knowledge, awareness, leadership skills, attitudinal changes, and the ability to achieve a well-rounded life.
It doesn’t just focus on work-related empowerment, Women Go Beyond also provides financial support and information so our female employees can achieve an independent and secure future.
As we grow, we want to keep implementing initiatives that allow our female employees to go further in life by feeling supported and empowered. Cheers to the future and every day being International Women’s Day.
