MeUndies Gives x The Fashion Scholarship Fund
For far too long, the fashion industry has marginalized BIPOC designers, photographers, models, and business leaders. To put it in perspective, consider that fewer than 10% of the 146 fashion designers who showed at the major Fall 2018 shows for New York Fashion Week were black. It’s time for change.
We believe opportunity, visibility, and the right to pursue your dreams are things everyone deserves. In order to begin removing the barriers to self-expression for young minority women in creative and fashion industries, we’ve made a contribution of $75,000 to The Fashion Scholarship Fund, a non-profit organization that aims to support the careers of the country’s most talented young students from all fashion and business disciplines.
Through our contribution, seven women of color students from around the country have been selected as MeUndies x FSF Scholarship recipients. They’ll receive $7,500 to apply toward expenses such as tuition, summer intern housing, study abroad opportunities, and more, so that they can focus on their studies and bright futures. Additionally, being a FSF scholar provides connections to coveted internship and career opportunities, mentorships, networking, and access to the industry’s most influential leaders and companies.
In November of 2021, we also offered a virtual panel discussion to FSF scholars and alumni with Jeff Camera, our Vice President of Merchandising and Design, Christen Cushing, our Manager of Print Design, and Stacey Coté, our Director of Product Development and Production, to discuss our product & merchandising process. The informative conversation included details about the drawing process, print assortment, production, and inventory planning. If you missed it, check it out here.
We could not be prouder of these excellent scholars and are so excited about the amazing things they will accomplish. Without further ado, please meet the 2022 MeUndies x FSF Scholarship Recipients. Give ‘em a round of applause!
Without your support, our scholarship for these talented women would not be possible. Thank you for helping us aid causes that are near and dear to our hearts.
