Top 5 Funniest Underwear Scenes in Movies
Deep down, we’re all 12 years old. No matter how many times we throw on a suit, or spout corporate nonsense at work, or shout, “Hey!” to our kids when they are running around having a blast, there is a 12-year-old somewhere inside desperate to come out. It’s because of this that underwear has firmly placed itself as a benchmark for low-brow humor in cinematic history. And while you may look at Ben Stiller giving himself an undie-wedgie (seen below) and think, “well that was funny when I was 12,” we may argue that it is still incredibly funny and that maybe you’ve been wearing your suit for a little too long.
So as we take a deep dive into the top 5 funniest underwear scenes in movies, we want to first remind you: underwear can be funny and it’s okay to laugh. It’s why we sell these ridiculous prints.
Risky Business (1983)
Let’s just get this one out of the way so we can move on. It’s like a law or something that every underwear-based listicle of all time must include this scene. It’s not even that funny of a scene. But the actual fact that Tom Cruise did this is sort of funny in its own right. Okay, we did the Risky Business scene, let’s move on to some things that might actually make you laugh.
Old School (2003)
This was right around when Will Farrell was peaking as the world’s funniest human. Watching a bright red man in his 40s, sporting classic tighty-whities, slam a folding chair against a wall and scream, “We gotta keep our composure!” is objectively funny. We love when Frank the Tank comes out.
Wayne’s World (1992)
How do you like being in a real studio?”
“Um. It’s like a new pair of underwear. At first, it’s constrictive. But after a while, it becomes a part of you.
There are a lot of underwear jokes in Wayne’s World. But our favorite might be when Mike Myers dances in his underwear in front of Cassandra. He’s nailed the “create a thong out of tighty-whities” look. Also, this is always pleasant to watch:
Zoolander (2001)
It’s a walk-off! This takedown of the fashion industry is right up our ally. Derek and Han-solo face off in an epic walk-off (old-school rules) to determine who is the most relevant...runway model? The rules, set by David freakin’ Bowie, are to replicate and elaborate, but Derek can’t quite pull off the climactic pull-you-undies-out-of-your-pants-without-taking-your-pants-off move. It’s really quite mesmerizing to watch. We are digging Derek’s printed Undies, though.
Back to the Future (1985)
This movie is pretty much perfection. Is the mom-into-her-kid subplot disturbing? A resounding yes. But watching Michael J. Fox deal with it makes it all better.
Do you mind if I sit here?
No! Fine! No! Good! Fine...good…
When you really think about it, how nuts is it that she took the pants off an unconscious person whom she has never met? This whole scene is bananas and we love it.
